General Notice

This document is provided for general information and transparent disclosure. Teckwik Technologies recommends that you obtain independent legal counsel regarding your specific circumstances.

Introduction

Teckwik Technologies (“Teckwik Technologies”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Teckwik Mobility Infrastructure (also known as “T-Mobility”) platform in Nigeria. We respect your privacy and are deeply committed to protecting personal and geospatial data in line with applicable Nigerian law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (“NDPA”) and regulations issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (“NDPC”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our websites, Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), mobile applications, APIs, or related mobility offerings (together, the “Services”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and legal rights available to you.

Who This Applies To

This policy applies to riders, prospective riders, driver-partners, delivery and courier partners, fleet owners, corporate account administrators, and visitors to our websites and applications. Separate terms or agreements may govern driver onboarding or fleet partner relationships; where there is a conflict, the more specific notice or agreement applies to that relationship.

Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide safe, reliable, and instantaneous transit matching, verify regulatory qualifications, safeguard users, and process financial settlements. Categories of data collected include:

Account and Identity Data

Full name, phone number, email address, photograph where provided, and government identity documentation where required for regulatory onboarding (such as National Identity Number (NIN), FRSC driver's licenses, vehicle inspection forms, and corporate billing details for business accounts).

Trip and Logistics Data

Pick-up and drop-off addresses, spatial waypoints, route trajectories, timestamps, fare calculations, cancellations, ratings and feedback, vehicle category selected, promotional codes applied, and support ticket contents.

Payment Data

Payment method type (card, bank transfer, or wallet), transaction references, billing amounts in Nigerian Naira (₦), and refund records. Card processing is performed by CBN-regulated payment partners (e.g., Paystack, Flutterwave); we do not store full payment card numbers or PINs on our servers.

Device and Technical Data

Device type, operating system version, browser metadata, IP address, precise location derived from GPS or network signals (with permissions you grant), diagnostic logs, and cookies or local storage on our web applications.

Communications

Messages transmitted through in-app channels, SMS or email correspondence with customer support, call logs where legally permitted and disclosed, and survey responses.

Safety-Related Data

Incident reports, 24/7 Rapid SOS dispatch sensor events where enabled, trip telemetry anomalies, and fraud-prevention telemetry signals.

How We Use Personal Data

  • To create and administer accounts, verify identities, and authenticate users.
  • To match riders with nearby verified drivers, calculate upfront fares, optimize ETAs, and enforce our 5-Minute Waiting Time SLA.
  • To process payments, digital receipts, driver commissions (15% platform infrastructure fee), and driver-partner payouts (85% trip revenue).
  • To verify driver eligibility, comply with Nigerian transport regulations, tax laws, and lawful government requests.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, financial abuse, and security incidents.
  • To provide customer support and resolve disputed fares, lost property, or safety events.
  • To deliver critical service notifications, operational alerts, and legal updates.
  • To conduct performance analytics and infrastructure enhancement using aggregated or de-identified data.
  • To exercise legal rights and defend legal claims in competent Nigerian jurisdictions.

Sharing and Recipients

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We disclose personal data strictly where necessary and governed by robust contractual and technical safeguards:

  • Drivers and Riders: Limited trip information necessary to execute the ride safely (e.g. pickup point, first name, vehicle details).
  • Service Providers: Cloud infrastructure hosts, SMS gateways, identity verification services, and CBN-licensed payment switches.
  • Corporate Clients: Trip and billing reporting authorized under your organization's Teckwik Business agreement.
  • Regulatory & Law Enforcement Authorities: Regulators (including the NDPC and FRSC) or security agencies upon lawful court order or statutory requirement.
  • Professional Advisers: Certified auditors, solicitors, and insurers bound by strict professional confidentiality.
  • Business Transfers: A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring, subject to this Policy or equivalent data protections.

Where personal data is transferred across borders, we implement statutory safeguards mandated under the NDPA, such as adequacy determinations, standard contractual clauses, or explicit consent.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including statutory retention requirements for financial and tax records under Nigerian law. Trip, transaction, and payment audit logs are kept in accordance with legal limitation periods. When retention periods expire, data is securely erased or permanently anonymized.

Security Infrastructure

Teckwik Technologies implements rigorous administrative, technical, and physical safeguards:

  • Encryption in transit using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3).
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive credentials, database tables, and verification documents using AES-256.
  • Role-based access controls (RBAC) and immutable administrative audit logging.
  • Routine vulnerability scanning, rate limiting, and defensive perimeter monitoring.

Your Rights Under the NDPA 2023

As a data subject in Nigeria, you possess fundamental statutory rights regarding your personal records:

  • Right to Access: Request confirmation of whether we process your data and receive copies of your records.
  • Right to Rectification: Request prompt correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to Be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your account and personal records where statutory grounds apply.
  • Right to Restriction: Request restriction of processing under specified conditions.
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to processing founded on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw previously granted consent without impacting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please email our Data Protection Desk at privacy@teckwik.com. If you believe your data rights have been infringed, you also have the right to lodge a complaint directly with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our websites and Progressive Web Apps utilize session cookies, local storage, and caching technologies to maintain authenticated sessions, secure forms against CSRF attacks, cache offline vector maps, and record user preferences. For comprehensive details on how we deploy cookies and how you can manage them, please review our dedicated Cookie Policy.

Children's Privacy

Our Services are strictly not directed at individuals under eighteen (18) years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, please notify us immediately at privacy@teckwik.com, and we will take swift action to purge such records.

Automated Decision-Making

Certain operational functions—including algorithmic driver-rider spatial matching, dynamic pricing multipliers during peak demand, and anti-fraud filters—employ automated processing. Where an automated decision produces significant legal or contractual effects, users retain the right to request meaningful explanations and human review.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, technological, or regulatory developments. Material updates will be communicated through in-app notices, email notifications, or prominent website alerts, accompanied by an updated “Last updated” date.
